Detent Systems (“we”, “us”) is a business based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. This policy explains what personal information we collect through detentsystems.ca and through our calls, texts and emails, why we collect it, and the choices you have. Questions go to info@detentsystems.ca.
What we collect
Information you give us
- The free page form: your business name, what the business does, its city and website, your name, email address and mobile number.
- Booking a call: the details you enter in the booking form, such as your name, email address and phone number, and anything you write about your business.
- Calls, texts and emails with us: what you tell us, your phone number or email address, and the dates and times we were in touch.
Information about your business
To build a free page, we read your business's public website and public listings, such as its Google rating and description. We use this only to write your page and to prepare for any call with you.
Information collected when you visit the site
Like most websites, ours records the pages you visit, your browser and device type, your approximate location based on your IP address, and how you reached the site (for example the site or ad that sent you, including any campaign tags or ad click identifiers in the link). We use privacy-focused analytics from our hosting provider and Google Analytics, and, when we run ads, Google Ads and the Meta pixel. Google Analytics and the ad tools use cookies or similar technology.
How we use it
- To build your free page and send you the link.
- To reply to you, and to follow up about your page or your call by email, text or phone.
- To schedule and hold calls, and to prepare a proposal if you ask for one.
- To understand which pages and ads bring people to the site, and to improve them.
- To keep our records and meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information.
Calls and texts
If you give us a mobile number, we may text you about your request. Reply STOP to any text and we will stop texting you. Calls with us may be recorded and transcribed so we can keep accurate notes of what was discussed.
AI services
We use AI services to help build free pages, take notes and draft replies. These services process information on our behalf under agreements that limit how they may use it.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers that help us run the business, and only as much as each one needs: website hosting, email, calendar and booking, phone and text messaging, workflow automation, AI, analytics and advertising. Some of these providers store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States and the European Union, where it may be subject to the laws of those places. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
Cookies and ads
Analytics and advertising tools help us measure which pages and ads work. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can manage ad personalization in your Google and Meta account settings.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes above, and then delete it or make it anonymous. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to further contact. Write to info@detentsystems.ca and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
How we protect it
We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, including access controls on the accounts that hold it.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
